Newly lengthened to 245 yards from the back, the 16th is a truly heroic par 3. Unlike the 14th, the green is framed by slopes and woods lining the left and back. The right is protected first by a small pond, then by a series of bunkers lying well below the green surface. The green itself is divided by a large ‘nose’ entering the putting surface from a large slope back left, which presents a very difficult putt to the player on the wrong side of the slope. A shot that ends in the vicinity of a back right pin is a cause for celebration from any tee.
